After the Eagles played to their reputation as Giant-killers and handed Washington the NFC East last night, Big Blue’s 4th straight playoff-less season was made official. Realistically speaking though, the G-Men killed themselves. Often. There wasn’t a whole lot of post-season promise predicted preseason, but there were plenty of opportunities to hold onto W’s throughout the year & control their destiny. Instead, tonight’s game vs the Vikes & the finale against the rival Birds are meaningless outside of going full tank-mode. Fingers crossed to see Ezekiel Elliott (or prize pick of your choosing) in blue next year – unless the Giants win out now & fuck that up too.
If it’s losing you want, then not having your top offensive weapon should put a smile on your face. With ODB out Eli’s gonna have to beat Minnesota with Randle and Nicks like it’s 2012-13 all over again. It’s gonna feel like single-digits in Minny so this could be the last time Giants fans get to see frozen-faced Coughlin running the NY sideline.
So basically, it’ll feel as miserable on the field as it has felt watching Giants football from our couches. This one will be tough to get up for now that the playoff door has been shut. If they win, it’s too little too late & they only hurt their future. If they lose, it’s just watching more of the same frustrating football. Welcome to the Week 16 “Whatever” game.
